Do I need a referral to visit your office?
No, we do not require a referral, although your HMO or insurance plan may. You may call our office to schedule a consultation with one of our physicians. Our schedulers can help determine which physician can best serve you. If your insurance plan requires a referral, we can help you find one.
Do you provide psychiatric evaluations?
No, we do not provide psychiatric evaluations or treatment. Conditions that we don’t treat include depression or other mood disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, eating disorders and drug addiction. We encourage you to contact your family physician or pediatrician to obtain a referral to a psychiatrist.
How long will our appointments last?
Your first appointment is typically about 45 minutes. Follow-up appointments will last 15-20 minutes, depending on your child’s condition and treatment plan.

How many treatments or office visits will my child need?
This will depend on the nature and severity of your child’s neurological issues. Regardless of how simple or severe these issues are, Child Neurology Associates will be there to care for your child.
How can I renew my prescription?
Prescriptions are usually refilled at the time of your child’s office visit. If your child needs more medication and you are late for scheduled follow up, call the office immediately to schedule an appointment. If medication is required prior to a scheduled follow up visit, contact your physician’s Medical Assistant by phone, or FAX a request for the medication refill to 404-847-9596.
How do I know if my insurance covers your services?
Child Neurology Associates is a provider for most major managed care plans in Atlanta and North Georgia. It is your responsibility to ensure that our practice is contracted with your managed care plan at the time of your child’s visit. We recommend checking an updated list of “in plan” providers on your managed care plan’s website, or contacting the Human Resource Coordinator at your place of work for assistance. Please visit the Patients page to find a list of managed care plans that Child Neurology Associates is currently contracted with. Do your homework! In a managed care environment these lists change frequently, and it is not our desire to bill you for services that your health insurance plan has contracted with other physicians to provide.
How can I prepare my child for a visit to your office?
This will depend on the age and developmental status of your child. Our consultations involve obtaining history and examining your child, none if which is painful. In fact, much of the neurological examination in children is “playful”, and many children enjoy the process. If your child requires subsequent diagnostic testing that is painful, our staff will give you test specific instructions on how to prepare your child.
